“What do mitochondria really look like? The Youtube video below shows mitochondria in human skin cells which have been stained with a¬†fluorescent protein called DsRed. Notice how the mitochondria move like small worms! They are clustered around the center of the cell, which is the location of the nucleus. This shows us that mitochondria tend to move to and cluster around areas of the cell that require lots of energy.”
